For more than three decades, His Majesty King Harald has been a unifying force for Norway. His warmth, wisdom, and steadfast belief in the value of community have made a lasting impression on people across the country. Flags at Half-Mast
In the event of a death in the Royal Family, NTNU follows national guidelines for periods of national mourning and other significant national events.
- NTNU will fly its flags to half-mast once the death has been officially announced.
- Flags will remain at half-mast for up to three days, or for as long as directed by the Government, as well as on the day of the funeral.
- A photograph of the King and memorial candles will be displayed at NTNU’s campuses in Trondheim, Gjøvik, and Ålesund.
- Information will be published on Innsida and on ntnu.no.
- Teaching and work at NTNU will continue as normal.

Condolence books
Condolence books have been made available at Nidaros Cathedral and Trondheim City Hall.
Gjøvik Municipality’s condolence book is available at City Hall. In Ålesund Municipality, condolence books will be available at all citizen service centres.
