President Mattarella is coming to NTNU at the head of an Italian delegation that will take part in the research and business seminar Greening The Future. The seminar has been designed to explore the advantages that Norway and Italy share for developing new and sustainable technologies in their surrounding regions.

This includes how the North Sea and the central Mediterranean can benefit from their natural resources and strategic location to create synergies in the research and industry sectors, enabling them to become major European hubs for the green economy.

Both the Norwegian and Italian authorities are promoting energy grids of offshore wind farms, solar plants and hydrogen facilities, interconnected via extensive cables and pipelines that link several countries.

The president and his daughter Laura Mattarella will be welcomed to NTNU by Rector Anne Borg, the mayor of Trondheim, Rita Ottervik, and Colonel Marianne Døhl, chief of the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy.

In addition to the seminar, the entourage will take part in a guided tour to gain insight into NTNU’s activities in the sphere of energy.

Sergio Mattarella (81) was elected as president of Italy in 2015. He is now serving his second term as president.

The event is part of a two-day state visit. Crown Prince Haakon will accompany the Italian President during his visit.
