In autumn 2023, Copilot (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise) was launched for all employees at NTNU.

The same offer for students was soon in demand, and the tool is now available to all students at NTNU.

Security

– Copilot willl be a free and more secure tool for all our students. AI tools, like chatbots, are increasingly relevant in our society, and we are working on incorporating them into education too, says Marit Reitan, Pro-Rector for Education, to Universitetsavisa

Copilot is a chatbot and language model tool that works in the same way as, for example, ChatGPT. It is a tool that is integrated into your browser, and you can ask it about almost anything.

Data is delteted

The purpose is that students can use the tool in their studies in a safer way. In Copilot, the data you enter is deleted after the work session is over. In addition, the level of information security has been increased, so that it is possible to use the conversation robot for work tasks that require a little more shielding than the open tools found on the internet.

Furthermore, the aim is that lecturers and students have access to the same type of tool, so that the students have a safer tool to use in teaching contexts.
